About
Hi and welcome!
I’m Elmas – an interior designer, blogger, technologist, painter, photographer, color enthusiast, collector of beautiful things, traveler, and world citizen. Born in Belgium with Turkish roots, I now live in the stunning city of Dubai with my husband Dwight and our two boys.
I am incredibly passionate about how we design homes. It’s so much more than just a pretty vase here, or a coffee table set up there. Our homes tell the story of who we are: they reflect our personalities, our tastes, and our experiences. They are a canvas where we express our creativity and a sanctuary where we find comfort and peace. When thoughtfully designed, our homes can enhance our daily lives, providing a space that supports our mental and physical well-being.
My passion for interiors has been with me for as long as I can remember. Mum and I would spend weekends exploring carpet shops, picking out paint colors, and wandering through furniture stores, imagining how each piece would fit into our home.
My love for interiors is matched only by my love of travel. I first visited India in my early twenties and was captivated by the bold colors, the blend of old and new, and the meaningful items in homes. It left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I’ve caught the travel bug and have visited almost all European countries, several North African and Asian countries, and many GCC countries. These experiences have all influenced my approach to design, blending different cultures and styles into my work.
Five years ago, I started my blog to bring together my thoughts on design, travel and art. I would describe my style as transitional (also known as updated classic), where old and new elements are brought together, blending traditional and contemporary design elements to create a cohesive and timeless look. I love combining vintage pieces with modern furnishing, resulting in a home that feels fresh and classic at the same time.
Take a look around and immerse yourself in my blog. If you have any feedback or suggestions, I’d love to hear from.
